<p>I need to use g:link tag and will be sending parameters back to controller.  The problem is, Grails kept saying there is something illegal about the variables I used in the parameter department.  Until I dig out the reference guide, I found somewhere says:</p>
<p>${foo} expansions will NOT work in the <strong class="bold">params</strong> parameter (although they will work in the <strong class="bold">id</strong> parameter).</p>
<p>Why so? <a href="http://www.grails.org/Tag+-+link" target="_blank">link</a> to the solution.</p>
<p>Absolutely a big surprise from a beginner.  Well&#8230;</p>

<p>It doesn&#8217;t.  I got some kind of &#8216;struct&#8217; type instead.  Again, digging Grails tag library didn&#8217;t help much.   The following <a title="reading datePicker" href="http://stackoverflow.com/questions/534330/reading-the-gdatepicker-value-in-grails-without-using-the-new-objectparams-met/534997" target="_blank">link </a>suggested how to read the value from date picker in the controller:</p>
<ul>
<li>params["foobar_year"] storing year</li>
<li>params["foobar_month"] storing month</li>
<li>params["foobar_day"] storing day</li>
</ul>
<p>Here you go &#8212;note:</p>
<ul>
<li>foobar is the name of your datePicker object from the submitted form.</li>
<li>must be encoded in double quote</li>
